Last.fm issues
So lately I’ve been having some issues with Last.fm scrobbling my iPod tracks. If you don’t know what Last.fm is, head over there and check it out. Basically you download an application that is compatible with either XP, Vista or OS X. The application coordinates with iTunes so that whenever you listen to a song in iTunes, the song’s information is “scrobbled” (uploaded) to your Last.fm page. Then you can look at statistics about the songs, artists and genres you listen to, compare your stats with your friends’, set up radio stations, and more.
My problem was scrobbling tracks from my iPod Touch. It had worked in the past but after updating to iTunes 7.7 and the iPod software 2.0 it stopped working. I spent quite a while today reading support pages on the Last.fm website and finally came across this thread which recommended downloading the new beta version of Last.fm for Mac (1.5.3.45507). This pretty much solved the problem for me, and it seems to be working fine now. I occasionally have to manually tell Last.fm to scrobble my iPod tracks by going to the Last.fm application, then Help > Diagnostics > iPod Scrobbling. Unfortunately, I still lost the hundreds of scrobbles from listening to my iPod this weekend. I hope nobody else runs into serious problems with this.
While you’re at it, check out my Last.fm page and add me as a friend! :)
Just for the record, I’m running:
A 2.0ghz Intel Macbook on 10.5.4
iTunes 7.7.1(11)
Last.fm 1.5.3.45507
iPod Touch with iPhone update 2.0.2
